The Committee's unanimous decision is that Orlando City SC forward Luis Muriel has violated the League’s policy regarding simulation/embellishment.  Luis Muriel will be issued a fine for this action.

 

05.11.24 PHI-ORL ORL Mass Confrontation 86min

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that Orlando City SC has violated the League’s Mass Confrontation Policy.  This is the second violation of the 2024 MLS Season for the Club.  Orlando City SC will be fined and Head Coach Oscar Pareja will be fined.  Each violation thereafter will result in the doubling of the fine.

Due to their role in the mass confrontation, the following individuals have been identified for supplemental discipline: 

  • Orlando City SC goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, midfielders Nicolas Lodeiro and Ivan Angulo, and forward Duncan McGuire will be issued a fine for inciting and/or escalating a mass confrontation.

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that Toronto FC has violated the League’s Mass Confrontation Policy.  This is the second violation of the 2024 MLS Season for the Club.  Due to the egregiousness of the incident, Toronto FC will be fined and Head Coach John Herdman will be fined.

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that New York City FC has violated the League’s Mass Confrontation Policy.  This is the first violation of the 2024 MLS Season for the Club.  Due to the egregiousness of the incident, New York City FC will be fined and Head Coach Nick Cushing will be fined.

The incident was reviewed under Disciplinary Committee Parameter #2: Where the Officials See an Incident, and Issue(d) a Red Card, the Committee may review the play for further disciplinary action. Supplemental discipline (suspension and/or fine) will be administered if the Committee believes:

  • the offense is egregious in nature; and/or

  • it must act to protect Player safety; and/or

  • it must protect the integrity of the game; and/or

  • the Player is guilty of repeat behavior.

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that Toronto FC forward Prince Owusu will be suspended one (1) additional match (two (2) matches total) and issued an additional fine for Violent Conduct.

The incident was reviewed under Disciplinary Committee Parameter #2: Where the Officials See an Incident, and Issue(d) a Red Card, the Committee may review the play for further disciplinary action. Supplemental discipline (suspension and/or fine) will be administered if the Committee believes:

  • the offense is egregious in nature; and/or

  • it must act to protect Player safety; and/or

  • it must protect the integrity of the game; and/or

  • the Player is guilty of repeat behavior.

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that New York City FC defender Strahinja Tanasijevic will be suspended one (1) additional match (two (2) matches total) and issued an additional for Violent Conduct.

The incident was reviewed under Disciplinary Committee Parameter #3: Where the Officials See an Incident, and Do Not issue a Red Card or Act on a Case of Clear and Obvious Simulation/Embellishment that Meets the Conditions for Suspension, the Committee shall issue the following:

  • One (1) Match Suspensions - On incidents in which PRO acknowledges an on-field Referee/VAR error AND the Committee is unanimous at Red Card and One (1) match or Action Taken (simulation/embellishment); or, in cases pursuant to Section (VI.B.4.d.) Official Warnings; or,

  • Two (2) or more Match Suspensions - On incidents in which discipline warrants at least a two (2) match suspension.

The play in question must be, in the unanimous opinion of the Committee from all available evidence:

  • a clear and unequivocal red card; and

  • egregious and/or repeat behavior in nature, and/or

  • the Committee must act to protect Player safety or the integrity of the game.

  • Clear and obvious simulation/embellishment.

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that Toronto FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson will be suspended one (1) match and issued a fine for Violent Conduct.

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that Toronto FC midfielder Richie Laryea has violated the League’s Mass Confrontation Policy. Richie Laryea will be suspended for three (3) matches and issued a fine for inciting and/or escalating a mass confrontation.

The incident was reviewed under Disciplinary Committee Parameter #1: Where the Officials Do Not See the Incident, and therefore do not have the opportunity to act, the Committee will review any and all evidence and may act to discipline a Player (e.g., an off-the-ball offense).

The Committee’s unanimous decision is that Toronto FC Head Coach John Herman will be suspended for one (1) match and issued a fine for irresponsible behavior.

The Committee's unanimous decision is that San Jose Earthquakes defender Carlos Akapo has violated the League’s policy regarding simulation/embellishment.  Carlos Akapo will be issued a fine for this action.

The Committee's unanimous decision is that Portland Timbers forward Jonathan Rodriguez has violated the League’s policy regarding simulation/embellishment.  Jonathan Rodriguez will be issued a fine for this action.
