In the 38th minute, two ball kids stationed next to each other both threw a ball to an opposing team’s player delaying the restart of the game and eliminating the possibility of a quick restart.  The Club was notified and reminded of the Ball Kid policy that requires training and even distribution of the ball kids around the perimeter of the field.

05.16.18 VAN-SJ SJ Pre-Game Use of Personal Communication Devices

Three representatives of the SJ Earthquakes were using cell phones during warm ups prior to the match.  While it was unclear whether any of these individuals were authorized to do so (i.e., Team Administrator or Doctor), a reminder was sent to the Club regarding the policy.

05.19.18 POR-LAFC Llamosa Bench Behavior 66min

POR Assistant Coach, Carlos Llamosa, was observed to have left the bench and lobby the 4th Official and Referee for a red card to an opposing player.  The Disciplinary Committee was split, 3 opposed and 2 in favor, when voting to act in accordance with the Bench Behavior Policy.  Those opposed determined that the duration and aggressiveness of the behavior did not meet the threshold for action.  They also cited as a mitigating factor the injury which led to additional coaches standing to convey instructions, which is not a violation of the policy.

05.19.18 POR-LAFC Fan Incident 45min

“Fuck You, Ref” collective profane chant heard on broadcast. Noted to MLS Operations.

05.20.18 ATL-NYRB Video Board Replay Violation 57:30

The Referee Report indicated a Video Board Replay Policy Violation in the 58th minute. After review, it was determined that ATL had not violated the policy since showing a replay of a goal-scoring opportunity that led to a decision regarding a goal-kick or corner did not meet the standards of “controversial”.
