Additional Competition Policy Issues

09.14.21 TOR-MIA

Fans seated behind and to the left of the goal in the supporters’ section threw a beer can onto the field in the 86th minute. Noted to MLS Security & Operations.

Match Officials did not feel safe with the normal tunnel exit after the match and requested an alternate route. Security escorted the officials through an alternate route with fewer fans in close proximity. Noted to MLS Security & Operations.

There was no ball stand at the 4th Official’s Table. Competition has followed up with TOR.

09.14.21 NYC-DAL

NYC fans chanted, “Come on City Boys, make some f&%king noise” for two minutes in the 71st minute. Noted to MLS Security & Operations.

NYC failed to remove the ball stand balls at halftime per best practices outlined in the Competition Manual. A substitute used one of the balls during halftime. Competition followed up with NYC.

09.14.21 NYC-DAL S. Rodriguez Bench Personnel Policy Violation

It has been determined that NYC was in violation of the Bench Personnel Policy. The violation is in reference to non-rostered players (midfielder Santiago Rodriguez and forward Valentin Castellanos) in bench areas, at field level, or in the locker room from ninety (90) minutes prior to kick off until the conclusion of the match.  This notice will serve as an Official Warning against any future violation(s).  Any repeat violation(s) puts your Club at risk of further disciplinary and/or competitive sanctions.

09.14.21 NYC-DAL V. Castellanos Suspended Player Policy Violation

It has been determined that Valentin Castellanos was in violation of the Suspended Player Policy.  The player was observed in the bench area. Mr. Castellanos will be issued a fine for this violation.

09.15.21 SKC-MIN

The Match Official Locker Room was flooded as the officials entered at halftime. According to the Match Director, the SKC staff did a great job moving the officials to another locker room and addressing the flood. Noted to MLS Operations.

In the 83rd minute, a message was shown on the videoboard indicating, “Sporting KC Fans: We are sorry to report that due to your support and SKC continuously finding the back of the net, we have run out of fireworks. Please direct all your complaints to @SportingKC on Twitter”. Noted to MLS Operations.

09.15.21 DC-CHI

An unidentified woman wearing a stadium security shirt knocked on the VOR door and entered without authorization after a member of the VAR crew opened the door. She made a comment and was then told to leave which she did without further delay. Noted to MLS Security & Operations.

09.15.21 SJ-RSL

The first half started late due to pre-game ceremonies. Noted to MLS Operations.

After the game, there was no security positioned at the match official locker room. The Referee had asked the liaison for security personnel to be placed outside the locker room after a confrontation with SJ coaching staff members. The match officials were in the locker room for approximately one hour after the match before leaving. Approximately 20 minutes before they left, the Referee asked the liaison again for a security escort. The liaison said that they will do the best they could. There was never a security officer outside the locker room post-match, and the officials were not given a security escort to their cars when they left the locker room. Noted to MLS Security & Operations.

09.15.21 POR-COL

Second half kick-off was delayed due to COL arriving to the field late. Noted to MLS Operations.

09.15.21 ATX-LAFC

The second half kick-off started a minute late due to ATX not arriving to the field on-time. Noted to MLS Operations.

The second half kick-off started a minute late due to CIN arriving to the field late. Noted to MLS Operations.

09.15.21 ATL-CIN S. Sosa Suspended Player Policy Violation

It has been determined that Santiago Sosa was in violation of the Suspended Player Policy. The player was observed in the bench area.  Photo evidence of this violation is attached to this email.  Mr. Sosa will be issued a fine for this violation.

09.15.21 ATL-CIN A. Walkes & F. Ibarra Bench Personnel Policy Violation

It has been determined that your Club was in violation of the Bench Personnel Policy. The violation is in reference to non-rostered players (midfielder Franco Ibarra and Defender Anton Walkes) in bench areas, at field level, or in the locker room from ninety (90) minutes prior to kick off until the conclusion of the match. This is the first violation of the 2021 MLS Season for Anton Walkes.  Mr. Walkes will receive an Official Warning for this violation. This is the second violation of the 2021 MLS Season for Franco Ibarra (first attached).  Mr. Ibarra will receive a fine for this violation.
