The incident was reviewed under Disciplinary Committee Parameter #2:

Where the officials see an incident, and issue a red card, the Disciplinary Committee may review the play for further disciplinary action, over and above the mandatory suspension and fine.  Supplemental discipline (suspension and/or fine) will be administered if the Disciplinary Committee believes:

  • the offense is egregious in nature; and/or

  • it must act to protect player safety; and/or

  • it must protect the integrity of the game; and/or

  • the player is guilty of repeat behavior.

It is the Disciplinary Committee's unanimous decision that Jozy Altidore will be suspended for one (1) additional match (two (2) matches total) and issued an additional fine for violent conduct.

It is the Committee's unanimous decision that Shea Salinas will be issued a fine for failing to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after receiving his red card.

The San Jose Earthquakes have been found in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy.  The Club will be issued a warning for their first violation.  Any additional violation(s) of the policy will result in a fine of to the Club and a fine to the Head Coach.  Each violation thereafter will result in the doubling of the fine.

The Colorado Rapids have been found in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy.  This is the second violation of the 2018 MLS Season for the Colorado Rapids.  The Colorado Rapids will be fined to the Club and the Head Coach will be issued a fine.  Each violation thereafter will result in the doubling of the fine. The Committee may also identify individual players involved, which can lead to supplemental discipline (e.g., suspensions and/or fines).

Due to their role in the mass confrontation, the following players have been identified for supplemental discipline:

  • Jack Price (COL) will be issued a fine for instigating and escalating a mass confrontation

 

08.11.18 COL-SJ Stahre entering field of play 87min

The San Jose Earthquakes Head Coach Mikael Stahre has been found in violation of the League’s policy regarding Entering the Field of Play.  Mr. Stahre will be issued an ‘Official Warning’ for this violation.

 

08.11.18 RSL-MTL Lovitz YC challenge Savarino 66min

Although there will not be supplemental discipline issued at this time, Daniel Lovitz will be placed on ‘Official Warning’ for repeat behavior for his next three (3) 2018 MLS Season matches (including MLS Playoffs).

08.12.18 DC-ORL Higuita failure to leave the field 55min

It is the Committee's unanimous decision that Cristian Higuita will be issued a fine for failing to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after receiving his red card.

 

08.12.18 SEA-FCD Ziegler failure to leave the field 91min

It is the Committee's unanimous decision that Reto Ziegler will be issued a fine for failing to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after receiving his red card.

 

 

08.12.18 SEA-FCD Ruidiaz contact Ziegler 91min

Although there will not be supplemental discipline issued at this time, Raúl Ruidíaz will be placed on ‘Official Warning’ for violent conduct for the remainder of the 2018 MLS Season (including MLS Playoffs).

08.12.18 SEA-FCD post-match mass confrontation

The Seattle Sounders FC and FC Dallas have been found in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy.  Both Clubs will be issued a warning for their first violation.  Any additional violation(s) of the policy will result in a fine to the Club and a fine to the Head Coach.  Each violation thereafter will result in the doubling of the fine.

HOU Assistant Coaches, Paul Rogers and Davy Arnaud, were observed to have been in violation of the Bench Behavior Policy.  Pending Investigation.

08.12.18 DC-ORL Smoke Discharge 1min

DC fans were observed to have been in violation of the smoke discharge policy in the 1st minute of the match.  The policy stipulates that smoke may be deployed at the player walk out, after a home goal, and at the end of the match with a home win unless fans receive prior authorization for other times during the match. Noted to MLS Security.

08.12.18 TOR-NYC Mavinga Suspended Player Policy Violation

TOR player, Mavinga, was observed sitting on the bench during warm ups in violation of the Suspended Player Policy.  Mavinga will be fined according to the fine schedule outlined in the Competition Manual and consistent with his first violation of this policy.

08.11.18 LAG-MIN Fan Incident

As indicated in the Referee and PME Reports, a fan was observed to have been abusing and insulting the Match Officials in the Champions Lounge section of the stadium tunnel. Noted to MLS Security.

08.11.18 CHI-NYRB Fan Incident 90+1min

As indicated in the Referee and PME Reports, a bottle was thrown from behind the CHI bench towards the referee.  The match was stopped for approximately one (1) minute.  Noted to MLS Security.

08.12.18 SEA-FCD Keeshan Mass Confrontation Post-Match

FCD Goalkeeper Coach was observed to have been inciting a Mass Confrontation after the match.  Pending Investigation.
