Incident was reviewed under Disciplinary Committee Parameter #2:

Where the Officials See an Incident, and Issue a Red Card, the Committee may review the play for further disciplinary action, over and above the mandatory suspension and fine. Supplemental discipline (suspension and/or fine) will be administered if the Committee believes:

  • the offense is egregious in nature; and/or

  • it must act to protect player safety; and/or

  • it must protect the integrity of the game; and/or

  • the player is guilty of repeat behavior.

It is the Disciplinary Committee's unanimous decision that Wayne Rooney will be suspended for one (1) additional match (two (2) matches total) and issued an additional fine for violent conduct.

It is the Committee's unanimous decision that Kai Kamara failed to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after receiving his red card.  Mr. Kamara will be issued a fine for this action.

08.25.19 CIN-CLB mass confrontation 89min

The Columbus Crew SC have been found in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy.  This is the second violation of the 2019 MLS Season for the Club.  The Columbus Crew SC will be fined and the Head Coach will be issued a fine.  Each violation thereafter will result in the doubling of the fine.

FC Cincinnati have been found in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy.  This is the second violation of the 2019 MLS Season for the Club.  FC Cincinnati will be fined to the Club and the Head Coach will be issued an Official Warning for his first violation.  Each violation thereafter will result in the doubling of the fine.

Although there will not be supplemental discipline issued at this time, Julian Gressel will be placed on ‘Official Warning’ for violent conduct for the remainder of the 2019 MLS Season (including MLS Playoffs).

NYRB Assistant Coach Preston Burpo was observed by the PME to be in violation of the Interacting with Match Officials at Halftime policy. He has been issued a warning.

SJ Assistant Coach Omar Zarif was observed by the PME to be in violation of the Interacting with Match Officials at Halftime policy. Zarif has been issued a warning.

Suspended LAFC player, Walker Zimmerman, was observed to be in violation of the Suspended Player Policy limiting access to locker rooms, the tunnels, and field 90 minutes prior to kickoff until the conclusion of the match. Zimmerman has been issued a fine.

SJ was observed to have 2 additional staff members (who were not included in the 9 people listed on the Official Match Roster) standing behind the bench throughout the match. SJ has been issued a warning.

Unidentified man in backwards white LAFC hat (not listed on Official Match Roster) was sitting on the LAFC bench throughout the match.

 

08.25.19 LAFC-LA Cameraman Entering Field of Play

In the 2nd minute, a cameraman entered the field of play to capture footage of players celebrating a goal in violation of the updated field access policy. Noted to MLS Broadcast.

 08.21.19 DC-NYRB Late Pre-Match Tunnel Lineup

Both Clubs were late lining up in the tunnel for the pre-match procession. As a result, the match started approximately one (1) minute late. Noted to MLS Operations.

08.21.19 DC-NYRB Fan Incident

In the 58th minute of the match, fans threw shoes and bottles onto the field in protest of the penalty decision.  Noted to MLS Operations & Security.

Post-match, a fan threw a beer can at the Match Officials as they left the field. A full beer can struck the Referee Liaison in the foot. Noted to MLS Operations & Security.

08.21.19 LAFC-SJ Fan Incident

A verbal confrontation between SJ Coach, Almeyda, and a fan ensued as the coach was leaving the field after being dismissed. The fan was removed from the stadium.

08.22.19 SKC-MIN Cameraman Entering the Field of Play & Incident

In the 88th minute, after the SKC goal, a cameraman collided with AR1, Ian Anderson, as he moved onto the field to capture footage of the players celebrating.  This incident was previously communicated internally, which resulted in a suspension of the field access policy for cameramen.

08.24.19 TOR-MTL Stadium Lights Malfunction

Prior to the start of the match, the PME was informed by the TFC operations crew lead that there was an issue with the functionality of the east stand lights. A meeting took place between the coaches and Match Officials to determine how to proceed. Ultimately, both Clubs agreed that the Referee would have control and, if player safety was compromised, would suspend play.  The match concluded with no further issues.

The WGBT was not available to the Match Officials. Noted to MLS Operations.

08.25.19 CIN-CLB PME Parking Pass Issue

No parking pass was provided for the PME upon arrival to the stadium. Competition has followed up with the Club again to request this accommodation be provided for all matches moving forward.

08.24.19 NYC-NYRB Fan Conduct

According to the PME report, NYC supporters chant, "Come on City Boys, make some f'n noise" at the 9:40 mark. This chant also occurs at the 44:45 and 62:00 mark. NYC supporters also shout "Puto!" at the 49:40 mark and on all subsequent goal-kicks by their opponent. At the 59:20 and 85:00 marks, NYC supporter chant, "F**K the RedBulls!" Noted to MLS Operations & Security.

·         08.24.19 NYC-NYRB Ball Kid Protocol

Allegations of Ball Kid protocol breaches at the 66:15, 69:49, 70:20 and 88:35 minutes are pending an investigation.

·         08.25.19 CIN-CLB Roster Exchange Location

The Pre-Match Roster Exchange did not take place at the designated area near the referees locker room, but was instead done behind one of the goals. Noted to PRO.

·         08.24.19 SJ-VAN SJ Roster Adjustment

After the roster exchange, approximately 50 minutes prior to kick-off, SJ Earthquakes requested to add Equipment Manager Andy Dunbar to Bench Personnel section of the Official Match Roster as they had only filled in 7 slots prior to this. PRO & Competition were informed and approved, and the change was made.
